ABOUT THE TEACHER

My name is Christine Cartwright. Born in France to a Swiss mother and an English father, I have been passionate about languages since an early age.

I am a fully qualified modern languages teacher in French, German and Spanish. I have worked both in the secondary and the primary sector as a modern languages teacher. Whilst working as a SEN learning support assistant, I have also gained direct experience of working with children with special educational needs and speech and language problems. In the last three years, I have also worked in breakfast/after school clubs and as a 1:1 tutor teaching primary languages, preparing students for a wide range of exams, ranging from Year 6 SATS in Literacy and Numeracy to GCSE language exams.

I am an enthusiastic tutor who from the very first lesson will encourage each student to speak, listen, read and write in the target language to a high standard through activities that are creative, fun and interesting. Using games, songs, puppets, ICT and food tasting sessions, I seek to increase linguistic competence and cultural awareness in a way which is fun and enjoyable, as well as educational.

I am confident that the experience of learning a language will boost any child’s self-esteem and encourage progress in all aspects of their academic curriculum.
